Cam McCarthy will not be traded to Fremantle, with GWS standing firm and two clubs unable to agree to a deal. McCarthy's manager Colin Young says that his client will definitely be leaving the Giants and returning home to Western Australia when his contract expires next season. Fremantle confirmed that the club offered The Giants pick No. 22 and next year's first round pick for McCarthy.

GWS General Manager of Football Graeme Allan has confirmed that the club is interested in Geelong ruckman Dawson Simpson, as a back up ruckman for Shane Mumford.
Allan also re-iterated the Giants' stance on key forward Cam McCarthy, saying he will most definitely be at GWS next year
