The first Delisted Free Agency (DFA) window has opened, with more than 90 players hoping to receive an AFL lifeline before the start of the 2027 season.
Delisted free agency presents a chance for players to be signed to the primary lists, with this window giving clubs the option to swoop on players who are without contracts ahead of the AFL Draft.
Essendon could be the biggest player in this space, with the club indicating its desire to bring in experienced talent whilst also holding extra rookie list spots granted to them by the AFL as an assistance package.
Former Docker Bailey Banfield looms as a potential pick-up for the Bombers, while the club will reconsider delisted trio Nik Cox, Tom Edwards and Kayle Gerreyn as potential top-up options via the SSP if there are list spots available.
St Kilda has confirmed its signing of Jake Stringer once the DFA window opens.
Carlton is expected to welcome former Pies defender Wil Parker, and is open to delisted father-son duo, Ben and Lucas Camporeale, who will attempt to convince the Blues list management team over the warmer months.
North Melbourne is all but certain to sign Elijah Tsatas and Samson Ryan. The pair were farewelled by Essendon and Richmond at the end of 2026, but are tipped to receive AFL lifelines.
Richmond is interested in bringing in former Blues small forward Flynn Young, while Carlton has interest in ex-Lion Luke Beecken.
Port Adelaide is looking heavily into former St Kilda tall Isaac Keeler. The athletic footballer was spotted training with Power players last week and looms as a handy pick-up for the Alberton club.
Zac Williams is being eyed by Essendon and Sydney as an experienced option, but could also be signed as a Category B Rookie following the AFL's introduction of a third spot dedicated to First Nations players.
Robert Hansen Jnr (North Melbourne), Keeler and Williams all fall under the same banner as potential Category B sign-ons.
VFL Footscray star Cooper Craig-Peters is also nearing an AFL opportunity, with more than five clubs expressing interest. Craig-Peters is tipped to sign with the Western Bulldogs via the Category B mechanism as a First Nations player.
Hawthorn duo Max Ramsden and Flynn Perez will try to impress the club to give them another chance on the AFL list.
Collingwood and Geelong are open to redrafting Noah Howes and Mitch Knevitt.
There's also a host of players who have gone public about their desire to remain in the AFL.
Pies Norm Smith Medallist Bobby Hill has stated his desire to play senior football once again after a tumultuous 18-month period resulted in Collingwood delisting him.
Ex-Eagle Jack Williams is set to have mulitple suitors after falling victim to a forward-line squeeze, with West Coast set to prioritise youngsters Cooper Duff-Tytler and Jobe Shanahan.
Port Adelaide forward Ollie Lord won't give up on his AFL dream despite the Alberton club delisting him after an injury-riddled six years, saying he'd be open to anything to continue his top-flight career.
Former North Melbourne utility Tyler Sellers is also predicted to sign with Essendon after a dominant season in the VFL for the Bombers.
Ex-Cat George Stevens has landed on his feet after his surprise delisting, signing with Tasmania Devils' VFL side for 2027 with the plan to be promoted to the AFL side upon its introduction into the competition in 2028.
There are also several players who have been delisted under the promise of their clubs that they will be selected back onto the list via the Rookie Draft on November 23.
That list consists of: Luke Lloyd (Brisbane), Koby Evans (Brisbane), Harry DeMattia (Collingwood), Jaren Carr (Fremantle), Jamarra Ugle-Hagan (Gold Coast), Elliott Himmelberg (Gold Coast), Ryan Byrnes (St Kilda), Dan Butler (St Kilda) Riley Garcia (Western Bulldogs)
