Former Geelong midfielder George Stevens has signed with Tasmania's VFL side ahead of the 2027 season.

Stevens played four games for the Cats across three seasons, including an impressive debut in 2025 when he earned a Brownlow vote.

The Cats delisted Stevens at the end of 2026 and now he is headed to the Apple Isle to play for the Devils.

Stevens' decision is likely motivated by the fact there will be plenty of list spots available at the Devils when they enter the AFL competition at the end of next season.

The 21-year-old is a big-bodied, hard-nosed midfielder who dominated at VFL level in 2026 and won Geelong VFL's best-and-fairest award.

He was a key part of the Geelong side that finished clear on top of the home-and-away ladder but fell short in the Grand Final to Box Hill.

The inside on-baller averaged 30.3 disposals, 7.7 clearances, 5.4 tackles across 19 games while also kicking 13 goals.

Stevens is from regional town Warrnambool in Victoria's far west.

The 189cm midfielder played two games this season before he was cut from Geelong along with Jed Bews, Mitch Knevitt (a chance to be re-listed) and Keighton Matofai-Forbes.
