Tasmania has not offered inaugural captain Robbie Fox a contract for 2027 after the club decided to part ways with the former Sydney Swans player.
Fox played 105 games for Sydney from 2017-25 before signing with the Devils for their first season in the VFL.
The reason for Fox's dismissal is clouded in mystery with Tasmania releasing a statement to Code Sports about the decision while referencing "player behaviour and adherence to our standards".
“The club can confirm that Robbie Fox will not be offered a playing contract with Tasmania Devils in 2027,” a club spokesperson told the publication.
“This decision follows consideration of a range of factors including the future direction of our football program as we continue to prioritise the development of emerging talent ahead of our entry into AFL and AFLW in 2028.
“The club's expectations regarding player behaviour and adherence to our standards were also considered as part of this decision.
“We thank Robbie for his contribution in our inaugural year as a VFL player and leader.”

The 33-year-old helped guide the Devils to finals in their first season but he won't be part of the club going forward.
Fox featured in Sydney's 2022 and 2024 Grand Final losses.
The ABC is reporting that Fox was not offered a new contract after he was removed from a Hobart pub two weeks ago for allegedly being drunk and disorderly.
