Former Collingwood small forward Ian "Bobby" Hill has confirmed he wants to return to the AFL just months after parting ways with the Magpies.
Collingwood and Hill ended his contract (which ran until the end of 2030) in July after alleged behavioural issues, including Hill not showing up at the club when required on a consistent basis.
Speaking with Nine News, Hill said he has completed a 180 and is desperate to return to the AFL.
"It's all I grew up knowing was footy, footy, footy," Hill said.
"That was my plan A, so you know not having a plan B, C and that. I think I lost the love of the game and now I'm back. I want to get back into it and I do miss it so I can't wait.
"Hopefully, if clubs out there want me. Hopefully, I can get back on (the ground), I am pretty confident I can show what I can do if not even better and win games for teams."
Collingwood and coach Craig McRae have been widely praised for how they treated Hill's difficult situation and how the club exhausted every avenue to get the small forward's career back on track.
Hill played a key part of Collingwood's 2023 Grand Final victory over Brisbane when he kicked four goals, took a specky and won the Norm Smith Medal.
However, in the past couple of years, Hill has struggled to balance his personal and professional life and it got to such a dramatic point that he agreed to end his contract for a minor payout.
Hill played 102 games and kicked 117 goals across eight seasons at GWS and Collingwood.
