Former Hawthorn, North Melbourne and Gold Coast midfielder Jed Anderson will play for regional New South Wales club Finley in the Murray League next season.

Anderson is currently playing for the Southern Districts Crocs in the Northern Territory Football League, but when the southern football season arrives, he will suit up for the Cats.

Finley is the home club of former AFL stars such as Geelong's Tom Hawkins, who played one game for the Murray League side in 2025, kicking four goals against Deniliquin Rams, and Hawthorn's Shane Crawford.

The club announced Anderson's signing on Wednesday through its social channels.

"Currently playing with Southern Districts in Darwin, Jed is no stranger to the Cats, having pulled on the navy and white against Deniliquin earlier this year," the club's post read.

"Having previously shared premiership success with Jack and Will Sexton at Southern Districts, Jed is excited to reunite with some familiar faces and help drive our club forward.

"Jed's contested footy, professionalism and leadership will be enormous for our young and exciting group!"

Finley finished eighth out of 11 teams in the Murray league in 2026, finished second last in 2025 and lost the Grand Final to Congupna in 2024.

Anderson played 99 AFL games in his 11-year career as a tough on-baller.

The 179cm midfielder was technically a four-club player, first pre-listed by GWS in 2012 before being traded to Hawthorn, where he played 10 games in three years.

Anderson was then traded to North Melbourne at the end of 2015. He played his best and most consistent football for the Roos, featuring in 89 games across seven seasons.

Finally, the well-traveled veteran moved to Gold Coast, where he sat on the club's list for a season but did not feature at the highest level.

Originally from the Northern Territory, Anderson's Southern Districts currently sit atop the NTFL ladder with five wins from as many matches.
