Nick Daicos has extended his lead in the Zero Hanger MVP race, polling 17 votes in the Pies' win over the Kangaroos.
The star midfielder willed his team over the line in the last quarter to keep the Pies' top six chances alive. Older brother Josh was the other name to yield five-vote nominations from the Zero Hanger panel, but it is Nick's ability to garner auxiliary votes, particularly in losses, that has seen him jet out to what might just be an unassailable lead.
The Daicos boys' former teammate Jack Ginnivan secured his second 20-vote game of the season, with his classy and smarts coming to the fore in miserable conditions. His 3-goal performance was pivotal in Hawthorn's 64-point win over the in-form Blues.
Ginnivan was among five players to yield maximum votes in Round 18. St Kilda captain Callum Wilkie was crucial in his side's win over the Power, racking up 34 disposals and 16 marks.
Shaun Mannagh posted another barely believable performance, kicking four goals from his 33 disposals in the Cats' disappointing loss to the Giants. It came after an uncharacteristic spell of three goalless weeks, and it is the second time this season he's had at least 30 touches and at least four goals in the same match.
Jacob van Rooyen backed up his performance last week, kicking another bag of goals, finishing the match with six majors.
The final maximum vote earner, likely type Marcus Bontempelli, carried his Bulldogs across the line against the Eagles, kicking two crucial goals along with 25 disposals, and made his move back into second place in the Zero Hanger MVP.
