Fremantle assistant coach Jaymie Graham has said if the opportunity arises to go for the vacant North Melbourne coaching job, he will go after it.
Graham was a favourite for the recent Carlton job, before interim coach Josh Fraser made it impossible for him not to be picked due to on field performances.
North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson was let go with a year remaining on his contract on Wednesday.
Speaking to 3AW before the Fremantle and Hawthorn Qualifying Final on Thursday night, Graham confirmed he still remains interested in a senior coaching role.
"The last 24 hours, it's obviously a bit raw. Clearly the last 24 hours, I've been really focussed on (the final)," Graham said on the broadcast.
"If there's an opportunity to talk to someone, I'll consider it, but at the moment, yes, I'll be focused on doing my job tonight."
Graham went for both the Carlton and Essendon jobs in recent months. While he fell short, he has not lost any admirers in the coaching space and North Melbourne will likely target him as a candidate.
Despite the fact he lost out on both jobs in the end, Graham said he is not disheartened by the result.
"It was a busy month. I really grew from going through the processes. I'd been through one before and it was during COVID so everything was online. So it was a great opportunity for me," he said.
"Unfortunately, I wasn't successful, but I really learned a lot about myself by going through it and I've grown some confidence and yeah obviously by doing that, it was pretty well known that I want to coach at some point when an opportunity rises.
"I did get some confidence out of going through the processes and getting positive feedback from it."
