Throughout the 2026 AFL Finals series, Zero Hanger will rank the game of each player based on their impact on the result.
Fremantle looked on for the first two minutes, then fell apart completely.
Hawthorn was a dominant force in the win on Thursday night. Led by co-captain James Sicily, the Hawks made the Dockers look like C-graders on their home deck.
Here's how Zero Hanger rated every player's performance:
1 - James Sicily - The Hawks co-captain has been under pressure for his performances recently, but no one can doubt his impact in this final. Was massive in shutting down Fremantle's forwards while also setting up Hawthorn's dangerous counterattacks.
2 - Will Day - In his first - thanks to injuries - final, Day was a class above Fremantle's midfield. He couldn't be tackled and his centre clearance work was elite.
3 - Massimo D'Ambrosio - The Hawks winger was gut-running all night long and was creating plenty of problems for the Dockers. His runs down the wing created lots of counter attacking play for Hawthorn.
4 - Jordan Clark - One Docker who can hold his head high is Clark. In game 150 he was one of the only ones providing any run or dash and took the mark of his life in the first half.
5 - Lloyd Meek - Was a scary task having to come up against Fremantle star Luke Jackson, but Meek more than held his own. Beat Jackson for hit outs and gave his midfield excellent first use.
6 - Nick Watson - The Wizard was magical from the first quarter to the last. Kicking a beautiful soccer goal, setting up teammates with long darts and more little moments of magic along the way.
7 - Josh Battle - He absolutely destroyed his opponent in Josh Treacy. The Dockers forward didn't have a mark and only three touches late into the fourth quarter.
8 - Dylan Moore - The veteran forward was dynamic early and created so much danger inside forward 50.
9 - Andrew Brayshaw - Fremantle's tough on baller was another who tried to inspire his side with no luck. Kicked a big goal and worked his heart out but not much went right for his side.
10 - Tom Barrass - Another Hawthorn key defender who dominated Fremantle's three headed monster of Treacy, Voss and Amiss. Barrass was also under pressure for his performances, but he shone at Optus Stadium with his physicality and defensive nous.
11 - Josh Weddle - The utility man was tough and uncompromising all night. No matter where his coach played him across the ground.
12 - Cam Mackenzie - The young Hawk was clean throughout and another Hawthorn player who appeared impossible to tackle.
13 - Alex Pearce - The Dockers skipper worked hard in defence. Had his finger dislocated early in the game but was crucial in making this loss not bigger than it was.
14 - Jai Newcombe - The other Hawthorn co-captain was tough in the clinches and led his team well throughout the night.
15 - Luke Jackson - Toiled away in the ruck and looked to give the Dockers a spark. Was the only tall who was taking contested marks for Fremantle.
16 - Mitch Lewis - Showed how tough he was after going down into the rooms with an injured shoulder. Was a big presence physically for the Hawks forward of the ball.
17 - Luke Ryan - Was under the pump all night in Freo's defence. Went back with the flight multiple times and took strong marks.
18 - Karl Worner - Another Docker who put his body on the line throughout the night and had some good smothers, tackles and spoils. Will be hoping for a less tiresome night next weekend.
19 - Jack Ginnivan - The creative half forward was busy and ran hard both ways all night. Had some nice link up play with his good mate Watson throughout the game.
20 - Heath Chapman - Most of the Dockers' best players were defenders and Chapman was another. Tried his heart out in defence and looked to take the game on but to no avail.
21 - Neil Erasmus - Was everywhere early racking up the ball for the Dockers. Finished with 24 disposals and no doubt gassed after a solid night.
22 - Mabior Chol - He didn't have much of the ball, but when the game was in the balance early he was big. In marking contests, in tackles, in little tap ons to teammates.
23 - Sam Switkowski - Was busy with his dash and creativity inside forward 50. Needed his key forwards to create more crumbing opportunities.
24 - Isaiah Dudley - Another Fremantle small who was looking to create, unlike others. Used his speed and can hold his head high.
25 - Karl Amon - Didn't have the biggest night but didn't really put a foot wrong.
26 - Harry Morrison - Likewise. Kicked a goal and was busy enough without making too many mistakes.
27 - Blake Hardwick - Another part of Hawthorn's defence that kept Fremantle's forwards numb and neutered.
28 - Oscar McDonald - Worked hard in defence and kept Gunston to only two goals. Would have taken that at the start of the night.
29 - Jarman Impey - Wasn't everywhere, but did enough and didn't make mistakes.
30 - Caleb Serong - Had 20 disposals, but didn't impact the game.
31 - Connor Macdonald - Had 17 disposals and was speedy around the ground.
32 - Murphy Reid - Had enough of the football, but couldn't shake off the rust he had built up over his three weeks out injured. Turned over the football more in this game than he has all season.
33 - Hayden Young - Had some nice kicks in board, but has not been the same dangerous version of himself he was earlier in the season for a long time now. Needs to sharpen up.
34 - Matthew Johnson - Tried to drive his legs, but was also horrifically fumbly.
35 - Brandon Walker - Was beaten by the Wizard, but it was his first game back and you could clearly see his effort. Had some nice runs off halfback too. Shame to see him go down injured.
36 - Jack Gunston - Was less impactful than expected, but still kicked the two goals and posed a threat in attack.
37 - Jye Amiss - The best of the Dockers' key forwards. But that's not saying much.
38 - Nathan O'Driscoll - Fumbly, slipped and didn't do any damage.
39 - Josh Ward - Only had nine disposals and was rarely sighted.
40 - Blake Macdonald - Was very quiet, but didn't have much work to do in Freo's attack.
41 - Shai Bolton - Disappeared on the Dockers. Was meant to be a big game player and a difference maker when Fremantle paid a lot to trade him in. Had 21 disposals but they were mostly sky balls that were intercepted by the Hawks.
42 - Michael Frederick - Did not have any impact on the game and his disposals were sloppy.
43 - Max Beattie - The most quiet out of the Hawks, finished with two disposals.
44 - Mason Cox - Had some marks in defence. That was it.
45 - Patrick Voss - Where was the fire and brimstone? Nowhere to be seen in a dour night.
46 - Josh Treacy - Did not get near the ball all night and had zero impact on the contest. Was completely dominated by the likes of Barrass and Battle in a very disappointing showing.
