It's been a disappointing season for the Giants in 2022, with the side sitting in 15th after 18 games this season.

A regular finals appearance maker in previous seasons, the Giants haven't been able to find consistent form this year amidst ongoing off-field changes.

Long-time coach Leon Cameron parted ways with the club earlier in the year, with Mark McVeigh taking the reigns as the search for a successor is identified.

To add insult to injury, the Giants are likely to face an exodus this year, with the likes of Bobby Hill, Tim Taranto, Tanner Bruhn and Jacob Hopper linked with moves away from the club this season.

With a tight salary cap, the departures of the quartet could free up money for this off-season should they move to fill the voids left.

In saying that, here are five players the GWS Giants could target this off-season as they look for an improved 2023.

TRADE TARGETS: ADELAIDE, BRISBANE, CARLTON, COLLINGWOOD, ESSENDON, FREMANTLE, GEELONG

2. Dustin Martin

The Richmond superstar almost crossed to the newly formed Giants in 2013 before rejecting the move to remain at Punt Road, and what a decision that proved to be.

However, murmurs have been circulating about the now 31-year-old Martin's potential departure from the Tigers at the end of this season.

While the Swans have been the strongest name linked to Dusty's signature, the Giants would have to ask the question again of the three-time Norm Smith medallist.

Should the Giants lose Hill, Taranto, Hopper and Bruhn, Dusty can help fill the void in both the midfield and the forward line at GIANTS Stadium.

If Martin chooses to leave the Tigers, it is unlikely that Richmond will stand in his way after his contribution to the club's recent dynasty, which is good news for keen suitors.

He'd not only raise the level of the Giants' list but would almost immediately put them back towards finals contention again should he be fit and firing in 2023.

While there's been no official word on a departure from Martin, this is definitely one to keep an eye on as the season draws to a close.
