The Lions are in a rich vein of form following a stunted start to 2021, with their eyes now firmly fixed on a top four spot.

Despite this, no team is ever perfect and even the Lions could use some reinforcements - either in the upcoming trade period or medium-term future.

We continue our ‘Five trade targets for every club' series with the Brisbane Lions. The idea of these stories is to identify potentially gettable targets who could fill roles, not just link every club to the likes of Marcus Bontempelli and Patrick Cripps.

FIVE TRADE TARGETS FOR: Adelaide Crows, Carlton

So in no particular order, here is it – five players we think Brisbane should have on their hit list.

4. Mitch Wallis

Out-of-favour Doggies forward Mitch Wallis could be a fantastic pickup for the Lions. The 28-year-old has been linked away from the Dogs, specifically to the Bombers, but Chris Fagan would do well to snag him for Brisbane.

Wallis' form was impressive in 2020, leading the Bulldogs' kicking with 25 majors to help lead his side sneak into the finals at the 11th hour. However, the newly appointed vice-captain has been strangely forced out of the Dogs side in 2021 after coach Luke Beveridge elected to play two talls up forward in Josh Bruce and Aaron Naughton.

For the Lions, he would slot into the forward-line alongside the likes of Charlie Cameron, Joe Daniher, Eric Hipwood and Lincoln McCarthy, to make for a very potent setup. His run as well as his killer eye for goal means that Brisbane would be bringing in an impactful player in the prime of his career. Adding to this, Wallis is off-contract as an unrestricted free agent at the end of 2021, meaning Brisbane could snag him for nothing at a cut price.
