Former Essendon coach Mark Thompson is set to fight his drug trafficking charges.

Thompson, who is currently out on bail, was charged with counts of drug trafficking after police allegedly found illicit drugs including ice, ecstasy and amphetamines in his home.

It is alleged that Thompson’s fingerprints were found on drugs found in his bedroom and in the mezzanine area, with other substances found in the bathroom.

At a special mention at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court, Thompson’s lawyer Peter Matthews said that both parties were ready to proceed with the case.

Thompson will appear in court in June for a three-contest hearing.
