Brisbane AFLW premiership coach Craig Starcevich has signed a three-year extension with the Lions despite interest from Collingwood and Tasmania.
Starcevich was weighing up his future, but opted to extend his record as the league's longest-serving coach.
The Devils had interest in him while the Pies, for whom Starcevich won a premiership in 1990, were also a club that picked up the phone.
Tasmania, Collingwood, St Kilda and Essendon are all AFLW clubs on the hunt for a new senior coach.
The Pies came late for Starcevich after they recently parted ways with Sam Wright after a tumultuous season, which has also seen club icon Ruby Schleicher depart.
“That's something I couldn't really give too much consideration to at all,” Starcevich said to The Age regarding the Collingwood interest.
Craig Kelly attempted to reunite with his former premiership teammate in a bid to steer the club back to clearer waters.
Starcevich also touched on the interest from the Devils.
“Yeah, I did [give it a lot of thought] because it was intriguing because it had some of the hallmarks of what we did 10, 11 years ago in setting up the Lions,” he said.
“From that aspect, it was definitely something to have a close look at. But, at the end of the day, I love our club and our people too much, so it was going to be really difficult for me to move away from Brisbane.
“So that's essentially where it landed.”
Starcevich has coached the Lions since the inaugural AFLW season in 2017, claiming two premierships.
