The Carlton Blues have reportedly refused Sydney's trade offer for star forward Charlie Curnow, according to 9 News' Tom Morris.

The Swans tabled Will Hayward, Ollie Florent, Pick 11 and their 2026 first-round selection for Carlton's Charlie Curnow and a late pick, which was revealed to be Pick 22; Carlton's compensation pick for the departure of Jack Silvagni.

However, Carlton have knocked back the offer as the 7pm deadline grows increasingly near and Curnow's playing whereabouts for 2026 hangs in the balance.

The Blues spearhead was pictured with Swans coach Dean Cox at Moore Park on Monday afternoon ahead of a wider discussion with the club's key figures over a desired partnership.

Hayward was linked with the Ikon Park club 18 months ago, given that he considered a switch last year before re-signing at the Swans. The 26-year-old penned a five-year extension, taking him until the end of 2029.

The interest in Florent also comes as the dashing utility fell out of favour under Dean Cox, playing 16 games in 2025; his second-lowest tally behind his maiden campaign at the club.

The 27-year-old hails from Melbourne and was recently advised to explore his trade options, albeit under a contract that also expires in 2029.

Curnow has long been linked with a sea change, and the Swans, among Geelong and Gold Coast, were deemed the likeliest of destinations given their mixture of suitable players and picks.

The Cats offered a historic three first-round selections last week that were swiftly denied by Carlton, who are in the market for established talent.

However, it was revealed earlier by The Age that Carlton had a bid of their own rejected, with the Blues asking the Cats if second-year defender Connor O'Sullivan could be part of a package that saw Curnow head the other way to Kardinia Park.

The publication's report reveals that Geelong rebuffed the Blues' play for the young tall, who finished top five in this year's Rising Star voting following a 25-game season.
