The Sydney Swans have reportedly told midfielder Oliver Florent to explore his trade options, as the club becomes determined to land Carlton key forward Charlie Curnow with a blockbuster trade proposal.
However, Sydney will face an uphill battle, according to AFL Media's Cal Twomey, as Florent is content on staying at the club with which he signed a five-year contract extension in 2024.
It's a contract that take the 27-year-old through the 2029 season.
Florent, who was drafted out of Victoria as Pick 11 in the 2016 National Draft, has had interest from several Victorian rivals during the year, including Carlton, who have been made aware that he is a potential option on the trade market this off-season.
Twomey stated that Sydney is yet to make an official offer to Carlton for the spearhead forward, with Geelong recently being sent back to the drawing board after the Blues declined their offer of three-first round picks for the two-time Coleman medallist.
However, any package put forward by the Swans will include Pick 11 and a future first-round selection, according to Twomey.
Sydney has advised Ollie Florent to look at moving clubs to build out its package for a Charlie Curnow deal.
But Florent, who is contracted for four more years, has so far wanted to stay.

Florent is the third name to be legitimately thrown into trade talks for Curnow, with James Rowbottom and Will Hayward also involved in discussions, though both seem unlikely to be moved on from the Swans at this stage.
Florent played 16 games in 2025 under new Swans senior coach Dean Cox, his lowest in a season since his debut year in 2017, and averaged 15.2 disposals and 4.1 marks per game.
