Hawthorn v Geelong
The return of new captain Jarryd Roughead took the spotlight on Friday night and rightfully so. Roughy played well in his first game back, kicking a goal in the first quarter and finishing the match with 14 disposals. Time will tell how effective Roughy can be this season, but signs are good so far.

New Recruit Jaeger O'Meara also impressed for the Hawks and it was telling that after he left the ground the Cats started to get on top in the middle.
It was a trio of new recruits that impressed for the Cats. Zach Guthrie, pick 33 in the 2016 rookie draft, accumulated 24 disposals in his first AFL hitout. Zach Touhy was best afield with 33 disposals off half-back and Aaron Black kicked four goals on debut, including the creative one seen below.
