It is believed that out of contract Melbourne youngster Luke Jackson is more open to return home to Western Australia.

Reports from The Age suggest the Demons are 'increasingly concerned' over a potential Jackson move, and that the club would be happy to pay a big amount to keep him.

How they would be able to do so remains questionable.

On Thursday, Melbourne locked away Clayton Oliver on a monster seven-year extension, keeping him a Demon until 2030. This leaves Jackson and Angus Brayshaw as the next priorities.

Meanwhile, WA clubs Fremantle and West Coast are expected to offer big-money deals for the ruckman.

Other clubs are of the belief that the 2019 No.3 pick is more eager than before to head West, according to AFL Media's Callum Twomey.

"There’s definitely a feel among clubs that Freo and West Coast are more in play for him now than the were some time ago," Twomey told SEN.

The Dockers have been the front runner all season, but 7NEWS' Tom Browne says the Eagles can't be discounted.

He says both clubs could offer up to eight years and $10 million for the 20-year-old, with Fremantle being his preference. However West Coast will have better draft picks and flexibility to offer Melbourne.

The Demons would prefer the Eagles but players usually get their preferred deal.

Coach Simon Goodwin spoke this week about his desire to keep last year's Rising Star winner, while football boss Alan Richardson said they are 'incredibly keen' to retain him.
