There have been over four decades of matches between the West Coast Eagles and the Fremantle Dockers in the battle for Perth, with many tight games that resonate with West Australians to this day.
West Coast are ahead in the ledger, with 33 wins out from 61 meetings against Fremantle. However, Fremantle's Paul Hasleby and Caleb Serong have won the Glendinning-Allan medal the most, at four times each.
Here's my ranking of the 10 most exciting games between the clubs in the lead-up to their 62nd meeting today at Optus Stadium.
3. Round 22, 2021
Fremantle 9.17 (71) defeated West Coast 7.5 (47)
After leading by 40 points early in the second quarter, West Coast looked likely to win this one comfortably. Fremantle had other ideas.
The Dockers re-wrote history in overturning the deficit, snapping their 11-game losing streak in the fixture in the process. A bandaged-up Caleb Serong led the charge in the second half for the Dockers, finishing with 32 disposals, six clearances and two goals, including the “Serong, so right!” goal to seal the game, effectively ending the Eagles' finals hopes.

SERONG, SO RIGHT 😮
