Whether you are first on the ladder or eighth, each team going into the AFL Finals Series has at least one reason why they could win a premiership or a reason why they can't.
Each team has every reason to believe they can win it all from here, whether it is based on form, game style, or experience. Every finals team has its own strengths and weaknesses, and now it's a matter of who can utilise their strengths to their advantage while minimising their weaknesses.
Below is listed every team's biggest reason why they can or can't bring home the 2025 AFL premiership.
6. Fremantle Dockers
Why
Midfield group
In the second half of the year, Fremantle have been one of the better sides this season, which saw them secure a home final.
Their midfield group, comprising Caleb Serong, Andrew Brayshaw, Hayden Young, and Luke Jackson, can be among the best in the competition. With their fast transition play, they can break open any game at any moment.
At times, the Dockers have been tested and have proven themselves capable of performing under pressure, with wins against Adelaide, Collingwood, Hawthorn, and GWS.
Why not
Winning away
The Dockers are a force when playing at Optus Stadium, but there have always been questions about whether they can win on an away deck. Last time they played in an away final, they lost to the Magpies at the MCG in 2022.
They have proven this year that they can win away from Optus Stadium this year, but the question remains whether they can do it in the finals.
