Richmond has extended Tom Burton's time at Punt Road for another 12 months, with the youngster penning a one-year extension for 2027.

Burton's signature comes shortly after teammates Hugo Ralphsmith and Maurice Rioli Jr also agreed to a 12-month extension.

The Tigers signed the 2025 Western Jets Captain and Vic Metro Co-Captain as an SSP signing following a pre-season with the club.

Burton made an immediate impact at Richmond, debuting in April and playing five AFL games for the season.

The hard-running midfield/defender reinvented himself as a small forward since joining the Tigers, providing confidence by foot with the ability to kick goals or set up his teammates.

The Tigers have also re-signed Judson Clarke to a new deal.

Clarke has played 20 games since he was drafted in 2021, but has been struck down by multiple knee injuries, limiting his availability. He's played two AFL games in three years.

However, in a positive sign, he played the final four games of the VFL season.

“Judson has clearly had some terrible luck across the past couple of years but has come out the other side thanks to his diligent work and determination,” Richmond footy boss Blair Hartley said.

“He has a skill set that can really benefit our team with his running power and kicking. We hope he took enormous confidence from his return to AFL level in the final rounds.

“Tom has also put in a mountain of work since joining us for an SSP trial after the disappointment of missing out in the draft.

“He was able to get a taste of AFL football during the year, and he showed what he can do with his ability to cover the ground, which really gives him a point of difference.

“We are looking forward to seeing what both boys can do off the back of a strong off-season and are excited to see more of them in the yellow and black.”
