Richmond utility Hugo Ralphsmith has signed a one-year contract extension to stay at the Tigers for season 2027.

The 24-year-old has played 75 games at Richmond since being taken with Pick 46 in the 2019 National Draft.

Mercurial Richmond pocket rocket Maurice Rioli has also signed a one-year contract extension at the club. Rioli played 10 games and kicked one goal in 2026.

Ralphsmith and Rioli had been left on tenterhooks without a contract following the end of the season. However, on Tuesday afternoon the club announced through its social channels that the pair would be Tigers in 2027.

Richmond list manager Blair Hartley spoke on why the club extended the duo.

"Hugo found some form at AFL level towards the end of the year, playing more as a forward," Hartley said.

"He has shown across his 75 AFL games that he has some real weapons with his endurance running and ability to impact all around the ground.

"Likewise, we know what Maurice brings to our team. He is a team lifting player with his speed and defensive intent.

"Maurice still has plenty more upside which is exciting for us, and we are looking forward to seeing him continue to expand his game in 2027.

"Both are already working hard with their off-season programs, and we are looking forward to seeing what they can achieve next year."

It has left only Tom Burton and Judson Clarke as Richmond players waiting in contract limbo heading into pre-season.

Ralphsmith played 13 games for the Tigers this year, averaging 14.6 disposals and 3.1 marks per match.
