Whether you are first on the ladder or eighth, each team going into the AFL Finals Series has at least one reason why they could win a premiership or a reason why they can't.

Each team has every reason to believe they can win it all from here, whether it is based on form, game style, or experience. Every finals team has its own strengths and weaknesses, and now it's a matter of who can utilise their strengths to their advantage while minimising their weaknesses.

Below is listed every team's biggest reason why they can or can't bring home the 2025 AFL premiership.

7. Gold Coast Suns

Why
Star players

The Suns have proven they can compete with anyone, thanks to their star players.

Gold Coast have beaten three of the top four sides, along with a strong showing against the Cats in Geelong this year.

They have matchwinners across the field, including Noah Anderson, Matt Rowell, Sam Collins and Ben King. With more depth than they've ever had, the Suns have a squad that can compete with any team on any given day.

Why not
Inexperience

As we all know, this is the club's first taste of the AFL finals in its history.

Their inexperience may be a reason they struggle to handle the pressure, especially since they won't be playing at home. Three straight away wins to merely punch a ticket to the last Saturday in September, held at the MCG, is a tough task.
