The AFL is exploring an Indigenous All-Stars game to be played this off-season, per Channel 7's Mitch Cleary.

The match-up would be played in November or in February, and would be expected to be played on a scale akin to the NRL's pre-season showpiece.

There is also scope to include a potential multicultural element and/or women's fixture to the event.

With Buddy Franklin nearing the end of his career, it would be judicious of the AFL to include the Swans superstar and reboot the fixture in the upcoming off-season.

Former AFL player Chris Johnson added that the fixture would be "huge" for all involved.

"That'd be huge," he said speaking to Channel 7.

"It might be huge on Bud's list as well so you know ... it might be something he wants to tick off

"If Buddy was to line up next to a young Jesse Motlop ... I think that'd be fantastic to look upon ... or even Maurice Rioli"

Indigenous players previously played against a different AFL team every second pre-season up until 2015.
