Adelaide key defender James Borlase has signed on at the Crows for a further three years to end speculation he would seek a trade at the end of the season.
The 192cm key defender has been in career-best form and has become one of the Crows' most important defensive pillars in 2026.
Borlase was the target of trade speculation as he was out of contract at the end of the year, with clubs such as Western Bulldogs and North Melbourne on the hunt for key defensive talent this off-season.
However, the Egypt-born Borlase has decided to stick fat with the Crows - he was signed through the club's Next Generation Academy in 2020.
“I couldn't be happier to be signing on for another three years,” Borlase said in a club statement.
“It was always my intention to stay a Crow, and after getting a run of games at AFL level, I knew this is where I wanted to be for the long term.
“I've been really proud of my growth this season and look forward to seeing what we as a team can accomplish, this year and in the seasons ahead.”
Borlase has played 16 out of his 32 AFL games in 2026.
New Adelaide general manager of list management Jarryd Roughead said the club was excited to see the 24-year-old commit to the Crows for a further three years.
“Full credit to 'Boz', he started the year in the SANFL and just put his head down and got to work,” Roughead said.
“His form and effort demanded selection for the AFL side and he's continued to showcase that throughout 16 games at the elite level.
“We're really pleased to have him committed to the club for another three years and can't wait to see what he can achieve.”
