Sydney Swans have confirmed that some players were involved in an incident on Sunday night.
Seven reported that a group of Swans players were involved in a serious incident involving the police at a Melbourne hotel after the club's victory over Essendon.
The club has confirmed that it will work with the relevant authorities to resolve the alleged incident.
The Swans released a statement on Monday:
"The Sydney Swans can confirm several players were involved in an alleged incident in Melbourne last night," it read.
"The Swans have notified the AFL and relevant authorities and cannot provide further comment at this stage."
Victorian police have also released a statement on the alleged incident:
“Police are investigating a report of a sexual assault in East Melbourne on 17 August,” the statement said.
“The incident occurred at a hotel on Wellington Parade in the early hours of the morning.
“The exact circumstances are yet to be established and the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.”
