Port Adelaide director of coaching Andy Collins has resigned from the football club and will return to Victoria for personal reasons.
The club announced on Thursday that Collins, who joined the Power for 2026, would leave given Port Adelaide's season had concluded.
Collins said in a statement from the club that the decision to leave Port Adelaide was a difficult one.
“I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at Port Adelaide and I'm pleased with my contribution to the program,” Collins said.
“It's been great to work with the coaching group and help Josh in his development as a senior coach.
“I need to return to Melbourne due to private and personal reasons, but I thank Port Adelaide for the opportunity. This is a great football club made up of great people, and I leave having made life-long friendships.”
Senior coach Josh Carr was full of praise for Collins and credited him with guiding Carr through his first season at the helm.
“Andy has provided me with outstanding support throughout my first season as senior coach,” Carr said.
“To have someone with his experience to act as a sounding board has been very beneficial to me and our other coaches.
“We thank Andy for his contribution and wish him and his family all the very best for the next chapter.”
The Power has had a busy off-season already, despite the fact it is less than a week since the club's final home-and-away game.
Superstar Zak Butters has told the club he will be returning home to a Victorian side this trade period, with Geelong, Western Bulldogs and Richmond the three contenders.
Port Adelaide has made six cuts to its list, with Jackson Mead, Will Lorenz, Mani Liddy, Xavier Walsh, Benny Barrett and Jacob Moss being delisted.
However, the Power has been busy on the signing front too.
Defender Lachie Jones and winger Ewan Mackinlay have each inked new two-year deals that will keep the pair at the club until the end of 2028.
Small forward Mitch Zadow and defender Balyn O'Brien have each been given a one-year contract extension through to the end of 2027.
