Geelong remains in the box seat to secure the coveted McClelland Trophy and $1 million cash prize to be split between the men's and women's programs, but Sydney is a live chance to snare both awards.

The McClelland Trophy is recognition of football organisations and their efforts across both programs in a year. Following each respective finals series for both competitions, clubs are assigned a ranking from 1 to 18 in reverse order – the team claiming the premiership securing 18 points, down to the 18th team receiving 1 point.

The Cats earned 14 points in the AFL after they were downed by Fremantle in the Semi Final.

Sydney lost the following week to the Dockers, but picked up 16 points as a result of its preliminary final exit.

But following the end of the AFLW home-and-away season, Geelong finished second and has raked in 17 points, taking its total to 31.

The Swans finished sixth, thankful to a string of three consecutive victories to round out the campaign, yieldingd 13 points for a total of 29.

Melbourne, Carlton and Hawthorn are all on 26 points and remain live chances to topple the Cats, albeit unrealistic given the strength of the Kardinia Park club's 2026 season.

Geelong lost one game in the AFLW campaign and has set up a Qualifying Final clash against Melbourne at Ikon Park on Saturday, November 7.

The Swans will need to knock off the Western Bulldogs in a do-or-die Elimination Final at Henson Park on Sunday to keep their season, and their hopes for the McClelland Trophy alive.
