The Lions are in a rich vein of form following a stunted start to 2021, with their eyes now firmly fixed on a top four spot.

Despite this, no team is ever perfect and even the Lions could use some reinforcements - either in the upcoming trade period or medium-term future.

We continue our ‘Five trade targets for every club' series with the Brisbane Lions. The idea of these stories is to identify potentially gettable targets who could fill roles, not just link every club to the likes of Marcus Bontempelli and Patrick Cripps.

FIVE TRADE TARGETS FOR: Adelaide Crows, Carlton

So in no particular order, here is it – five players we think Brisbane should have on their hit list.

2. Ed Richards

This young gun from the Doggies has been a bright youngster for Luke Beveridge's side over the past couple of seasons. His run off half-back and wing has been stellar, but a broken fibula in a VFL practice match has meant that he hasn't been able to feature at AFL level in 2021.

The Lions have been linked with the 21-year-old in recent times, and he would be a great replacement for the existing half-backs in the form of Grant Birchall and Daniel Rich, who are both in the twilight years of their careers. On top of this, his ability to score goals would also no doubt prove a valuable asset to the Lions. Should he be secured by Chris Fagan, it would be a long-term solution for a position that will need addressing sooner or later.
