2008 Brownlow Medallist Adam Cooney has named his top five players in the AFL in three years time on 1116 SEN.

Cooney's list features two midfielders, two key forwards and a medium forward.

Only two of the five players are from Victorian clubs, showcasing the elite potential talent developing outside of Victoria.

1. Joe Daniher

Adam Cooney believes the Essendon star will be the best player in the AFL in three years time.

Daniher was named to the 2017 All-Australian side after booting 65 goals for the season and taking 6.7 marks per match, while also winning Essendon's best and fairest.

“He moves a bit like Hipwood and Franklin, and has the ability to take the game by the scruff of the neck and has shown that at times," Cooney said.

"He will be the number one player in the competition in three years time.”
