Richmond's 'Mr. Fix It' Liam Baker is reportedly set to be tabled an improved offer to remain at Tigerland, with the Punt Road side placing a priority on warding off advances from across the Nullarbor.

Since making his debut in Round 19 of the 2018 season, the 24-year-old has gone on to play sublime supporting cast roles for head coach Damien Hardwick across all three lines of the ground.

Yet, with the Western Australian native creeping towards the end of his latest deal, baited hooks have been cast within the past month in an attempt to lure him home.

As reported by The West Australian in late June, West Coast officials saw Baker as an obtainable prospect ahead of the upcoming trade period, with the Pingaring product's versatility placed at a premium.

However, the Eagles may be forced to look further afield given News Corps' reports that Richmond is prepared to pay Baker within the vicinity of $1.2 million across the next two seasons.

Should the hard-nosed team man ultimately decide to turn his back on his days in yellow and black, little short of a first-round selection is likely to satisfy the Tigers at the trade table.

While Baker has proven adept at getting his hands dirty at centre bounce stoppages, Richmond is also said to be keeping an eye on Jacob Hopper's status as the home-and-away season creeps towards a close.

Given Sam McClure's claims this week that Hopper, 25, is said to want out of the Harbour City's west, a place in Hardwick's engine room could well come to fruition.

Though Richmond is sure to run a rule over the midfielder's recent injury concerns, the possibility of injecting Hopper's skillset at the coalface is sure to warm the cockles of Tiger Army members.

Still, as Geelong is also likely to throw their hat in the ring for the North Ballarat Rebels product, the hunt for Hopper's services will be a two-horse race at the bare minimum.

Richmond will have a handy draft haul to negotiate with, after proving able to secure North Melbourne's second-round draft selection during the Callum Coleman-Jones trade last season.

Hopper has made 109 appearances in charcoal and orange since walking through the doors of Tom Wills Oval ahead of the 2016 season.
