Contracted Fremantle tall Rory Lobb is understood to have made the Dockers aware of his intentions to leave the club at the end of this year.

Lobb's name has been linked to the exit throughout this season despite his contract status, which is understood to be worth in the vicinity of $700,000 per season for its final year in 2023.

The Fremantle ruck-forward hybrid requested a trade back to GWS at the end of last year, with agreed terms between both clubs unable to arise come the cessation of the trade period.

It is understood that Lobb is set to seek a switch to the east coast again this year, however the Giants are unlikely to be the 29-year-old's landing spot should he find a new home.

The Western Bulldogs and St Kilda have shown reported interest in Lobb's services, while Melbourne have also been linked to the Bassendean native as they prepare to potentially bid farewell to young gun Luke Jackson this year.

With interest seemingly spiking in Lobb's stocks, the former Giant is understood to have noted to the Dockers of his desire to depart Western Australia at the end of this year, according to 7 News' Tom Browne.

"It's my view now, that some clubs are aware that Rory Lobb has informed Fremantle of his intention to seek a trade at the end of the year," Browne said on 7's Sunday afternoon broadcast.

"So I think Fremantle is aware of Lobb's intentions."

Reports have suggested the Dockers may need to part ways with several key names to lure Jackson west, with the likes of Griffin Logue, Blake Acres and Lobb potentially needing to make way.

Should Jackson seek a trade back to his home state, with Fremantle seen as the likely suitors, Lobb could be involved in trade discussions between the two clubs for a move to transpire.

The Bulldogs and Saints will also need to cough up assets to lure Lobb to Victoria given his current contract, with his value an interesting read given current form and age.

"I'm really strong on the fact that Rory's got a year left on his contract and he's a really important player for us," Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir recently said.

"As I have said all along, he is contracted. I see him playing at the club next year.”

Lobb has played 135 matches since making his AFL debut in 2014 with GWS, where he played in five seasons before switching back to his home state of WA.

A shoulder injury kept Lobb out of action for last Friday's draw with Richmond, with the veteran ruckman to be in the selection frame this weekend when the Dockers host the Demons at Optus Stadium on Friday night.
