A total of 67 young footballers from across the country have been invited to participate in this year's edition of the AFL Draft combine, with the Oakleigh Chargers leading the way with nine players invited.

The AFL have announced that the testing and interviews will this year be undertaken at Melbourne Park and Marvel Stadium over a three-day period from October 7-9.

Top prospects George Wardlaw, Harry Sheezel and Elijah Tsatas are among those that will undergo the testing, along with promising father-son prospects Will Ashcroft and Alwyn Davey.

Vic Country will lead the way with the most players from one region, with 19 players attending, with Vic Metro not far behind with 14.

South Australia will have 13 players attending, whilst Western Australia will send 12.

Top prospects to keep an eye on from these states will be Elijah Hewett (Swan Districts), Mattaes Phillipou (Woodville-West Torrens) and Isaac Keeler (North Adelaide).

Elsewhere, New South Wales will have three players attending, whilst Tasmania, Queensland and the Northern Territory will each be sending two players to Melbourne.

AFL Talent Ambassador Kevin Sheehan praised the process of the AFL Draft Combine, stating it's the best way for players to showcase their phsyical ability.

“The Draft Combine sees the best players from across Australia come together to showcase their abilities in front of AFL clubs,” Sheehan said via an AFL Statement.

“The players invited to the 2022 NAB AFL Draft Combine are considered by AFL clubs to be the leading prospects for the 2022 NAB AFL Draft.

“We are very excited about the high level of talent within this group of future stars of the AFL and it is extremely pleasing to have all states and territories represented as we return to a national Combine for the first time in three years.”

AFL National Draft Key Dates

The National Draft will continue to run over two consecutive nights, with night one being held on Monday, November 28 (first round) and Tuesday, November 29 (remaining rounds).

The Rookie Draft and Pre-Season Draft will be held on Wednesday, November 30.

As it stands, North Melbourne have pick one, West Coast pick two and GWS pick three.
