North Melbourne midfielder Jack Ziebell has been named as the club's new captain for 2017.

The 25-year-old takes over from Andrew Swallow, who stepped down at the end of this season, after five seasons in the role.

“It’s a huge honour to captain a club with such a proud history,” Ziebell said.

“Since my first day here, I’ve always wondered what it would be like to lead this great club.”

Robbie Tarrant has been named vice-captain, with Jamie Macmillan and Shaun Higgins named deputy vice-captains, while Swallow is the fifth member of the leadership group.
