Luckless Saint Jack Hayes has suffered another setback, suffering a hamstring strain during his recovery from an ACL injury.

Hayes hasn't played since Round 6, 2022 after injuring his ACL, now set to be sidelined for a further eight weeks after suffering a significant strain to his left hamstring.

Acting general manager of football at the Saints, David Misson, said Hayes' injury was disappointing for the club, but confirmed forward Max King will return to full contact training this week.

“It's obviously a disappointing result for Jack, who had put in a mountain of work in overcoming a series of long-term injuries,”Missonsaid.

“As frustrating as this setback is for Jack, we have full confidence that he will continue to approach his recovery with the same professionalism he's conducted himself with over the past year.

“We will remain patient with Max as he builds himself back up to full fitness, but are excited at the prospect of having him re-join our main group.”

Elsewhere at the Saints, Jimmy Webster is set to return to training with the main group this week as he continues his recovery from a fractured cheekbone.
Olli Hotton (back), Angus McLennan (back)and Matty Allison(foot) will all remain sidelined until at least after the bye.
