Geelong premiership player Gary Rohan has been pulled from a country football appearance this weekend due to a player points issue.
Rohan was set to feature for Bridgewater Football Netball club in the Loddon Valley league against former teammate Gary Ablett Jnr and Newbridge FNC.
The former Cat plays for Ocean Grove in the Bellarine league, and is worth seven player points. If he was to be selected by Bridgewater, the club would exceed its points limit.
Replacing Rohan will be St Kilda midfielder and media commentator Nick Dal Santo.
“Ahead of this weekend's Carlton Draft match between Newbridge FNC and Bridgewater FNC, we have shuffled the magnets to ensure both clubs can adhere to AFL Victoria's player point system,” a Carlton Draft spokesperson said.
“Gary Ablett Jr will line up for Newbridge, while triple All-Australian and local Bendigo hero, Nick Dal Santo, is a late addition for Bridgewater.
“Playing over 300 games for St Kilda and North Melbourne, Dal Santo's rivalry with Ablett dates back to the 2001 National Draft when both players were selected.
"The pair faced off in a series of high-stakes clashes for over a decade; none greater than the 2009 Grand Final.”
Rohan will still be assisting Bridgewater in the clash, helping out the coaching panel.
The match is part of the Carlton Draft initiative, which is designed to help struggling local clubs across the country.
This year, its fifth edition, was themed around rivalries. The two Gary's were meant to face off, while Dyson Heppell and Josh Gibson played a match in New South Wales last month.
West Coast premiership teammates Josh Kennedy and Lewis Jetta are still preparing for their clash in Western Australia, which is set for July 18.
