Richmond premiership defender Nathan Broad has announced his retirement from the AFL, and his last game will be next week's home clash against St Kilda at the MCG.
Broad has played 189 games for the Tigers, and played a pivotal role in the club's dynasty between 2017-2020.
The Western Australian has said he'd retire at the end of 2026, and has links to West Coast in a potential coaching role.
Eagles coach Andrew McQualter used to be at Richmond as an assistant, while former teammates Liam Baker, Jack Graham and Tylar Young currently play for the club.
Broad also delivered a parting message to the rebuilding Tigers.
“The culture here is our competitive advantage, but it does not just happen; it has taken years to build,” he said.
“It can also be lost in a matter of moments. So, continue to water and feed this culture, because it is our biggest strength.
“Block out the external noise that comes at us,” he said.
“I know that this group can achieve something great, but it will not just happen. Talent can only get you so far in this game. Hard work, consistency and playing your role will take you to the next level.
“Do not be afraid to challenge each other or have tough conversations if it comes from a place of care. Continue to drive hard standards because the habits you create will become the standard.
“I promise you, the tough times in the trenches together will make the great times even sweeter.”
