For some teams currently sitting outside the eight, the possibility of finals football has already evaporated.

Dismal performances, rebuilds, and tough fixtures have left the wins and losses column looking bleak and supporter's minds already cast to the upcoming trade and draft periods.

With some teams in dire need of aid in every area, others sit within a whisker of finals footy and require only a lick of polish rather than a total renovation.

This led us to contemplate that if each team outside of the eight could re-draft one club legend at their peak, who would it be?

From ninth place to the certain wooden spooners, here are our selections.

Greater Western Sydney – Jack Steele

Many superb players have left the Giants since their inception.

Names like Shiel, Treloar, Adams, Scully and Smith lead the giant list of GWS departures. However, we've gone in a different direction.

Currently experiencing a prolific year south of Sydney is former fringe player Jack Steele.

The Saint is currently the fifth favourite with the bookies to take out this year's Brownlow medal and for very good reason.

Once seen as just a tagger, Steele has evolved his game to become a productive winner of the ball as well as a midfielder that hits the scoreboard.

Still defensively astute and one of the best tacklers in the business, Steele is also seen by those at Moorabbin as the club's next captain.

For a team that has recently been slated as a collective of individuals, the re-addition of Steele in an orange guernsey would not only harden, but humble the Giant's list.
