The West Coast Eagles have re-signed three young talents for a further 12 months on top of their original draft-day deals.
Lucca Grego, Tom Gross and Hamish Davis have all extended their contracts for another season, taking each player through to the end of the 2027 season, a year beyond their original contract expiry dates of 2026.
Grego has yet to debut but has been promising at WAFL level, averaging 17.8 disposals from 10 games of action. His best performance was a 24-disposal, four-tackle display against South Fremantle.
A sharp decision-maker in the midfield and an aerial threat in the backline, the No.48 pick said the decision was "super easy".
โIt was a super easy decision. When I got told the news I jumped for joy,โ ย Grego said.
โI think I've been playing some pretty consistent footy so far, and I'll keep doing what the team needs to hopefully get that AFL game soon.โ
Gross has managed six games at AFL level this season after a debut in Round 4 against GWS. The midfielder forward is known for his burst from stoppage as well as outside run, and has shown flashes of potential in his half a dozen appearances.
Gross said the decision was straightforward after getting "a taste" for AFL early into his career.
โI'm excited. Iโve put the work in and now I get the reward for it,โ Gross said.
โIt was an easy decision; I'm loving my time here. It's great fun being in Perth, the boys and coaching staff are so welcoming. It's like having 44 mates.
โI've had a taste now and hopefully I can keep putting my hand up for more games. Playing consistent footy and understanding my role is the focus.โ
Four-gamer Davis is also a midfielder-forward that has been rewarded with game time this season, also debuting in Round 4 before playing a month-long string of games at the top flight.
Davis is looking to build on the experience and lessons learnt at the highest level, and holds excitement for the future and the next couple of years in blue and gold.
โI'm super stoked and really looking forward to the next couple of years,โ Davis said.
โI loved my start in the AFL team. It was a great experience and I want to build on that for the rest of the year.
โWhether it's at WAFL or AFL level, I just want to play my role and keep improving.โ
With a trio of youngsters locked away for another year, the Eagles still require the signature of Harley Reid, whose own future beyond 2026 remains uncertain as rumours continue to swirl over the highly-touted 2023 Pick 1.
