Carlton defender Matt Duffy has departed the club, informing his teammates of his decision to head back to Ireland to be closer to family.

Duffy joined the Blues as a Category B rookie at the end of 2023, playing in 27 VFL games across two seasons. He averaged 5.8 disposals and 2.2 marks.

GM of Football Chris Davies acknowledged Duffy's commitment and contribution to the Club since arriving at IKON Park.

"Matt came to us having never played Australian Rules Football and worked hard to get the best out of himself every day," Davies said.

"He showed a strong drive to learn and develop, and brought good energy to the playing group."

"The club wishes Matt all the best as he returns home to Ireland."

Duffy missed the entire 2024 season after suffering an ACL injury he sustained in a Gaelic match.
