Despite not coming away with the winner, Melbourne led the AFL for most votes polled in Sunday night's 2022 Brownlow Medal count.

Led by star midfield pairing Clayton Oliver (25 votes) and Christian Petracca (24), the Demons polled a grand total of 94 votes - two more than Geelong for the season.

The Blues, who saw skipper Patrick Cripps (29) take out the award, round out the podium with 89 votes, with Sam Walsh (14) and Charlie Curnow (11) also having a helping hand for the non-finals club.

At the other end of the ladder, the Eagles polled just the 15 votes for the night, an AFL-era low to take the unwanted crown from Melbourne in 2013 by one vote.

North Melbourne managed the second lowest tally, however more than doubled the Eagles with 31 votes.
