Richmond will likely need to forgo at least two draft picks - including at least one first-round pick - to secure father-son prospect Patrick Naish at this year's AFL National Draft.

Naish - whose father Chris played 143 games for the Tigers and booted 212 goals during his eight-year stay at Tigerland - is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after midfielders in the upcoming draft after an impressive U18 National Championships display for Vic Metro.

The 18-year-old averaged 21 disposals across the carnival and was an integral part of Metro's title-winning campaign, and will now reportedly be the subject of bids from clubs that will draft inside the top 10.

“They’ve got their first father-son since Tommy Roach about 15 years ago... and there are clubs in the lower regions of the ladder which really, really like Naish,” Herald Sun journalist Sam Landsberger told the SuperFooty Podcast on Tuesday.

Landsberger believes the Tigers are lucky they have two first-round picks this season, because both may be used to acquire Naish.

“I think it’s a good thing they’ve got two, because not only will Naish cost them one, I think he might bump back their second first-round pick, because they’re going to have to pay a really high price,” Landsberger added.

As it stands, the Tigers would have their own pick (currently pick 14), as well as Geelong's pick (pick 17) thanks to the trade that saw Brett Deledio move to GWS.
