Geelong VFL defender Kye Annand is on top of North Melbourne's wishlist for the Mid-Season Draft, but is no guarantee to reach their selection.

Strong talk has linked the Roos to Annand in recent days, with the club in need of defensive depth.

Annand missed the Cats' VFL game on the weekend, indicating a confidence from his camp that he will be selected, with the Roos very likely to pounce if he reaches their selection.

Richmond has also shown late interest though, and will decide between Annand and Marcus Herbert with Pick 2.

Meanwhile, the Western Bulldogs have narrowed their focus onto a pair of talls: former Port Adelaide player Tom Scully and West Adelaide's Caleb May. Both players have also received interest from West Coast, with May towards the front of the queue for clubs seeking rucks.

The Dogs have also shown strong interest in Herbert, but he is now viewed as exceedingly unlikely to reach their selection.

Herbert has been strongly linked to Richmond with Pick 2, with the Jack Sinclair-like player amassing 34 disposals in a scintillating performance on Saturday - unbelievably after appearing to roll his ankle early in the first quarter.

Despite strong innuendo the Tigers would use two selections, it now appears certain the Tigers will take just one player.

Essendon is likely to use its first selection on Jaxon Artemis. If they don't, the Tigers will pounce at Pick 2.

Melbourne is likely to use its second selection on a tall, with Tasmania's Max Mapley and Frankston's Harrison Coe in the frame. The club has also been linked with Flynn Riley who is viewed by several clubs as the state league ruck with the most AFL traits.

Adelaide is understood to be keen on a South Australian small forward.

Port Adelaide has consistently been linked to ruck Alex Van Wyk in recent weeks.

Carlton was widely tipped to pass prior to the weekend, but is doing late work following Matt Carroll's ACL injury on Saturday. The Blues are expected to take a front-half threat.

Sam Toner has been linked to the Blues and has received late interest following a career-best VFL game on Saturday.

Collingwood is considering whether to take a third selection as a replacement for Jamie Elliott, having previously focused on plugging other areas of the ground. The club is certain to take a ruck, with Coe right in the mix, as well as Brynn Teakle from their VFL program.

Williamstown's Hugo Hall-Kahan is also in the mix for multiple clubs.

Sandringham Dragons medium forward Ollie Griffin is viewed as the leading prospect from the Talent League and has interest from several clubs. He has played for Sandringham Zebras in recent weeks and showed a thirst for the contest to complement his aerial strength.

Athletic Calder Cannons defender Nick Staropoli is also in the mix.
