Many greats have towered over others in their dominance of the game across the decades of the AFL's history. Their lumbering presence has thrilled fans and, at times, dictated the outcome of games just by their massive presence alone.
With so few "giants" out there in the AFL landscape, how would you rank them amongst each other to find out who truly towers over all as the all-time greatest tall to ever play the game?
Here's my ranking of the top 10 tall players to ever play the game. The criteria for the list is simple: to qualify, a player must be 205cm and over.
1Max Gawn (209cm)
The beard breezes to the top spot after tallying a career for the ages, with the big Demon still making his mark as the greatest ruckman to play the game to this day. Gawn is the epitome of what every ruckman should aim to be, possessing all the skills that make an elite midfielder while still imposing his will and dictating every tap that comes his way.
Being the only premiership captain named on the list helps separate him from the pack and it doesn't hurt that he's also made the All-Australian team the most times ever for a ruckman at eight, including being one of the few players in history to captain the team.
