With players returning from their end-of-season break and getting back into the swing of things for pre-season, the 2027 season slowly keeps getting closer.
Established players will want to dominate training sessions while emerging young stars will want to push their case forward for a round one start.
Each player has something to work on with the season nearing, a lot more than others, and these are the AFL players from each club with the most to prove heading into 2027.
West Coast
Jack Viney
The champion Demons midfielder was traded to West Coast on deadline day alongside Trent Rivers, having decided on his future after a visit to Perth.
Viney is now alongside Eagles senior coach Andrew McQualter, who coached him at the Demons as an assistant and midfield coach.
Viney played 238 games at Melbourne and is a premiership player, funnily enough, winning it at Optus Stadium, which he will now call home.
He was a genuine leader at Melbourne with his attack on the footy and tackling pressure, averaging 22.5 disposals and an elite 5.9 tackles throughout his career. He will hope to bring his attributes to a developing West Coast list which is in need of some more experience to help them push up the ladder.

The Demon was sidelined for the duration of the 2026 season, managing an Achilles and back injury, only playing one game at AFL level in their wildcard loss to Carlton.
Although he is 32 years old, Viney should help free up Harley Reid, Tim Kelly and help Elliott Yeo push forward in attack, with a big season ahead of him following an injury-riddled 2026.
