A total of 28 players remain without confirmed contracts for the 2027 season, leaving them in AFL limbo following the cessation of the trade period.

Clubs gain a greater understanding of their list spots for next year once in the clear from the player movement window, with further contract calls and delistings to come in the next month prior to the AFL Draft.

Of the 18 AFL clubs, 15 have at least one player without a contract for next year, with Adelaide and Melbourne finalising their lists ahead of November's draft.

Fremantle has also confirmed its desire to retain Jaren Carr in 2027, but will need to determine whether that's on the rookie list or primary contingent.

The same arrangement applies to Essendon trio Nik Cox, Tom Edwards and Kayle Gerreyn, who will attempt to secure a spot over the summer.
