The five suspended Sydney players, Isaac Heeney, Nick Blakey, Chad Warner, Riley Bice and James Jordon, are yet to speak with police over the alleged sexual assault that may have occurred at the Pullman Hotel in Melbourne on Monday.

The Sydney Swans Football Club released a statement on Saturday clarifying that none of the five players have spoken with detectives, nor have charges been laid.

"The Sydney Swans supports the action taken by Victoria Police in releasing today's statement regarding the investigation," the statement read.

"The Sydney Swans categorically confirms that no member of staff is involved in the investigation. This includes being in the hotel room central to the police investigation. The Club reiterates that no player has been interviewed by police at this stage."

Victorian Police also released a statement on Saturday regarding the on-going investigation.

"Detectives from the Sexual Crimes Squad continue to investigate a report of a sexual assault in East Melbourne on 17 August," the police statement read.

"The incident occurred at a hotel on Wellington Parade in the early hours of the morning.

"The exact circumstances of the matter are still being established and a number of people have been spoken to.

"As the investigation remains active and ongoing, we will not be commenting further including providing information on the specific circumstances of the matter, movements of detectives and any statements or interviews taken.

"Where there is information that it is appropriate and beneficial to release then we will do so."

Reports had surfaced earlier in the week that the five players had been interviewed by police in relation to the alleged sexual assault on Monday morning.

SEN reported on Saturday that those facts are false.

Since then, a media storm has erupted over the saga, and the five players have been suspended for the rest of the season.

The club said the reason for their club-sanctioned ban was due to the players not behaving according to the expected professional code of conduct set out by the Sydney Swans, with a focus on the fact that the five players were up drinking late on Monday morning, brought women back to the hotel, and behaved in an unprofessional manner.

The suspension was not related to the police investigation.
