Sydney Swans forward Joel Amartey is expected to inform the club tomorrow of his desire to join Carlton as an unrestricted free agent.
Amartey has played with the Swans since 2020 and last featured for them way back in round 16, where he suffered a partial achilles tear.
The 2024 leading goalkicker for Sydney has been weighing up interest from the Blues all season.
Since coming back from injury, he has been left out of Sydney's finals side, being named emergency for each of their finals matches before their preliminary final loss to Fremantle last week.
It is thought the Blues have a five-year deal worth around $1 million per season on the table, per multiple reports.
The Swans don't have the capacity to match Carlton's offer, but will receive free agency compensation for Amartey, which is tipped to land in Band 1.
Amartey has played only 75 games for the Swans across seven years, picking up multiple injuries throughout his career, playing only 15 matches in 2026.
The 27-year-old has kicked 114 goals and booted a career-high 9 against Adelaide back in 2024.
He found himself out of the side due to injury, although coach Dean Cox finished with a strong mix of Charlie Curnow, Logan McDonald and Hayden McLean, with the latter playing the perfect second ruck to Brodie Grundy.
Amartey will link up with former teammates at Ikon Park. He will follow Ollie Florent and Will Hayward to the Blues, with the pair joining Carlton 12 months ago.
Former Swans George Hewett and Nic Newman also featured for Sydney before donning the navy blue.
