Zac Williams has taken to social media to announce his retirement from the top level, after 183 games across the GWS Giants and Carlton.
Recruited to the Giants with Pick 54 in the 2013 Rookie Draft, Williams' story is one of perseverance, with a litany of injuries underpinning his tenures at both clubs.
Carlton delisted the utility at the conclusion of the 2026 season - one that memorably ended in an elimination final loss at Geelong's hand, after the club had started 1-8 before moving on from then-coach Michael Voss.

Williams had hoped for a lifeline elsewhere, and at one stage, loomed as a player who could be listed under the AFL's new Category B First Nations provision, but no suitor has come forward in the hopes of making that happen.

Williams signed a six-year deal with Carlton at the conclusion of the 2020 season, having played 113 games in the orange and charcoal of the expansion club. Williams was a part of the Giants side that memorably made the club's first grand final, a year prior.
Williams added 70 games in navy blue, and missed the entire 2023 season through injury.
