A Gold Coast midfielder who can't crack into the senior side records a staggering performance for the third straight week, while countless Mid-Season Draft fancies press their claims ahead of the intake later this month.

Coburg Lions (100) def. Carlton (78)

Five goals from Mitch Podhajski were enough for the Lions to defeat Carlton on Sunday.

Podhajski's performance was pivotal in the victory, but he wasn't alone, with Donovan Toohey (32 disposals and six marks), Flynn Gentile (two goals, 29 touches and nine clearances) and Joel Trudgeon (30 possessions and eight clearances) also proving their value.

Cody Angove kicked three goals from his 19 possessions, while Max Gruzewski could've had a bigger day if he kicked straight.

Project ruckman Nick Madden fed the onballers plenty of football as veteran Lachlan Keeffe produced a solid performance.

Tom Hanily responded to his axing from the Swans side, slotting three majors in the loss.

Peter Ladhams also kicked inaccurately in front of goal, but found plenty of the football.

Caleb Mitchell and Nick Shipley impressed with ball in hand while being tough in the contest, combining for 18 tackles.

Angus Sheldrick returned to the reserves side despite featuring in the AFL as the sub.
