Port Adelaide 16.9 (105) def. by Adelaide 18.13 (121)

Adelaide handed Port Adelaide their third loss for the season after defeating them by 16 points.

Both Willem Drew and Todd Marshall were both omitted from Port Adelaide’s senior side this week. Drew responded with class and composure, putting his head over the ball and collecting 32 disposals. Marshall also played an impressive game, gaining three contested marks and finishing with a goal.

It was Jack Trengove however who stole the show. The experienced midfielder put on a display finishing with a team-high 37 disposals and a goal.

Port Adelaide will be tasked with the challenge of facing Glenelg this week, who are currently sitting at the top of the ladder.

Adelaide were quick out of the gates, scoring 11 goals to Port’s 5 in the first half.

Josh Jenkins put on an outstanding performance, placing his name in the minds of the AFL side’s selectors. Jenkins slotted six goals from his 22 disposals. Tyson Stengle also added scoreboard pressure, kicking four goals for the game.

Paul Seedsman and Richard Douglas returned from injury this week, with both players finishing the game unscathed with 23 and 13 disposals respectively. Douglas also scored a goal.

Adelaide will face North Adelaide this week as they look to gain their fourth straight win against the bottom side.
